The idea behind the trip

So many people are tempted to visit Australia and we were no different. Two months after returning from Honeymoon, we were ready to find something to look forward to again!

We spent probably ten months obsessively planning the trip - another trip of a lifetime :o) - and this website contains everything we learned along the way (and more while we were out there).

You don't have to spend a fortune to visit Australia. There are lots of websites around devoted to backpackers from the UK visiting Oz. We, however, only consider ourselves part time tourists! We have day jobs in the UK and travel is more of an occasional hobby. What's more, we like our comfort!

This website then, is our Australia travel guide for those with a bit extra to spend!

What's on the website

Unless you have months to spare, you're going to need to do some research to make the most of a holiday to Australia.

We found a whole bunch of websites before we went and spent a lot of time putting our itinerary together. The one thing we didn't really find was a site that pulled it all together - and went into a good amount of detail.

Pretty much everyone will know the major Australia highlights, such as Uluru / Ayers Rock, the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney's sights. But there's so much more to see and do!

The wildlife on Kangaroo Island, awesome driving along Great Ocean Road, and - if you go at the right time of year - Humpback Whale watching in the Hervey Bay area.

You have got a whole continent to explore after all!

We give each of our destinations a run down, review all of the hotels (giving alternatives where our choices could be improved) and show off some of our favourite snaps.

There's also a bunch of Australia books that we enjoyed reading and found helpful enough to want to recommend.

P.S. If you care strongly about the environment, you may wish to consider carbon offsetting your flights. It's a seriously long way to Oz!
